WHERE IN THE HECK IS DERBY?? Even some people in our own county don’t know. But we do and so do you if you have visited us before. Derby is a small community in between Ellerbe, NC and Pinehurst, NC. We have an Ellerbe address, but are close to 15 miles outside of town. Derby is in Richmond County but you can easily walk approximately one mile to be in either Moore County or Montgomery County from the Derby store. People travel these back roads on their way to work or on their way to the beach if they are coming from the Triad area. Those of us here live here refer to Derby as “God’s Country” and we kind of like that it’s hard to find!!
